Mr. Dhruv M. Sawhney
Mr. Dhruv Sawhney, a notable industrialist and one of the pioneers of Triveni Turbines, holds an M.A in Mechanical Sciences from Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, U.K. He has completed his MBA with distinction from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, U.S.A. He holds a number of illustrious titles. He was conferred as the president of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Indian Sugar Mills Association and the Sugar Technologists Associations of India and the International Society of Sugarcane Technologists. He also holds the title of being the First Chairman of International Society of Sugarcane Technologists, from the developing world.
He has held several senior positions in various public sector organizations and Government advisory councils on Energy, Industry, and Sugar. Elected as the Chairman for the Commonwealth Leadership Development Conferences founded by HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, in 1956, he played a key role to foster and create awareness regarding the decision-making abilities and understanding of individuals in commonwealth countries. He has also held the post of the President of the All India Chess Federation for 12 years.
A Deputy Chairman of the Evian Group, Mr. Sawheny is also the Chairman of the India Steering committee at the World Economic Forum, Switzerland. Having a keen interest in education, he held the office of Governor of the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow and the Management Institute at the University of Delhi. Doon School, Dehradun, one of India's most famous public schools, has the honor of having Mr. Sawhney as their Chairman. A Companion Member of the Chartered Institute of Management, U.K. he also chairs the Board of Trustees of Delhi's oldest private charitable hospital.
